Making Money in Fashion – Starting Your Clothing Line Business in 8 Steps

Clothing
by BeckyEtal

Ever imagined owning your own clothing line? Who hasn’t been to a store to find the ugliest design you’ve ever seen charge and up? Or walked down the street and wondered how any human could grant them self to be seen in such an unsightly clothing article? Have you ever thought to yourself, if they could design that and someone purchased it, why couldn’t I?

Learn from my mistakes how you could begin selling clothing with an upfront cost less than that of a PS3 game!! No hype, just the facts. Before I get to how that’s possible, let me achievement you through having your own full fledge clothing line. I am by no means an expert, but I do know that what I’ve learned through blood, sweat, and tears can benefit any one interested in the same dream I had. I’m not selling anything, so the information I present is yours to use and assimilate as you wish.

1. Know your Market- Any business book or self-help guru will tell you this, but in the fashion industry this is especially important. Your market determines how much you can sell your clothing for, what style of clothing, what colors, even your clothing line name. It’s important to do research, which doesn’t always have to be in the form of sitting behind a personal looking up boring statistical data. Get out into the market, check out malls, motion picture theaters, and anywhere else your saint market goes. Look at magazines that focus on your demographics, television shows, even your own closet. Ask yourself why you spent the money you did on your clothing items.

2. Meet your Peers- This step has personally saved me countless hours of agony by allowing me to learn from others mistakes. A easy search engine query of Fashion Forums will pull up some indispensable information on websites where other clothing line owners, both successful and not, meet to discuss the fashion industry, techniques to use on clothing, even vendors to use for printing and apparel.

3. Name It- This is one of the most time consuming yet rewarding parts. Name your clothing. Come up with a catchy clothing line study that really displays what your line is about. Ask yourself what perception you want your market to have about your clothing line, and study it accordingly. This is the most important step, you have to have a study worth mentioning, if not why would a store take a chance on your line, and why would a consumer want to wear your clothing if you study doesn’t fit the market?

4. Inc it- You know your market, you have peers in forums who are willing to answer any questions, you have a catchy name, now it’s time to place it in the record books. Incorporating can be an entire article by itself, but let me forewarn you, it’s not as difficult as it might seem. You could always pay a lawyer a couple hundred bucks to do it for you, or you can do a tiny research and save a lot of money. The government wants small business, they love us!! So it only makes sense that they would help us form, which they do. Go to your local say government homepage, do a search for starting a business in the state, and you’ll have all you need. Period!

5. Designs- If you’re a graphic designer you’re ahead of the game, however for the average mortal including myself, you’ll need someone to design your shirts. Since the invent of the world wide web this step is easy! Write an ad on any of the countless classified ads advertising a graphic designer for a clothing line project, then watch your inbox blow up. Graphic artist can charge by the hour or project, even though I recommend only going with those who charge by the project. The basic prices can be anywhere from – ,000.00, it just depends on what you want done and who you speak to. Shop around and you’ll be glad you did. Added in this step, if you want a full blown clothing line, as opposed to just a shirt with a design, you would want to also look into getting a graphic designer to do a logo for you. Again the cost can be nominal up to 0.

6. Wear 2?- You have your design but no clothes, now what? Well again doing a easy search online of wholesale dealers can pull up some great sources of blank T-shirts, Jackets and Jeans. Here is where your incorporating comes in handy. One of the forms you are going to want to fill out is the Sales & Use Tax License Number (Form obloquy might differ from say to state). This number will grant you to purchase goods at wholesale prices instead of retail. If you don’t want to go this route, another great source is your local flea markets. They can sell at bulk rates and have some excellent calibre clothing.

7. Print It- Once you have your design together and your clothing, next is the printer. This is typically the most pricey part of your clothing line, and for a good reason. If you just go for the cheapest, that’s what you’ll get. Research printers in your area, ask to see their work and ask for references. This is where the forum mentioned in Step 2 is helpful. Speak to the forum about printers in your area and see if anyone has had experience with them. Word of mouth is important. The more clothing you are printing, the cheaper the cost will be per clothing.

8. Now the Fun Begins- Here is where it gets the most exciting and scary! You have your clothing, it looks good, well not that good since it’s just sitting in your living room collecting dust. Market your clothing. There are so many ways and avenues that this could be it’s own article. But keep in mind, this has to be treated like your baby, and if you place due diligence and work into your clothing, show it! Go to trade shows, open up a plateau at the flea market, sell out of your trunk, go to retail stores and offer wholesale prices, rent a kiosk at the local mall, give away a lot of clothes for free to create a buzz, pester your family to purchase your clothing and show to all of their friends. There are enough books and resources on how to market that you should be fine by this point. Just do whatever it takes to get your clothing in front of consumers.

I stated at the onset that you could begin selling clothing for cost a less than the price of a PS3 game. Obviously that would be lies if you included the cost of incorporating, purchasing t-shirts, graphic designers and printing, but let me show you how. If you do a search for Opening up a free online shop, it will display companies who will grant you to open up a clothing store for free. Yes free, you don’t have to ever pay anything. So the PS3 game cost would just be the price you pay for your design. Keep in mind you can get a design for depending on which artist you use.

So there you have it, by no means exhaustive, but hopefully helpful. You can begin selling your own clothing on just about any budget. If you don’t have money saved for a starting a company, try opening up the online store, and use the profit from that to incorporate and begin printing your clothing, or if you like to not have to deal with that hassle, just market your website and get paid while not having any of the overhead associated with a clothing line. Hope this helps and ideal of luck.

How to Get Started Making Silver and Gold Jewelry for Profit or Fun.

Jewelry
by Craft*ology

Jewelry making has long been an art form passed on from dad to son, all the way back to ancient times; people have adorned themselves in Silver, Gold, and Gemstone Jewelry,

African tribes, the Native American Indian tribes and numerous ethnic tribes have used Bone carved pendants, Animal Ivory, Bird feathers and Seashells, to fashion accessories to use as jewelry.

Today we give our Jewelry titles ,such as Ethnic Jewelry ,Tribal Jewelry ,Antique Jewelry, Fashion Jewelry and so on .In this article we are going to Speak about Designer Hand prefabricated jewelry ,How to make it either for fun or for those really keen students how to do it and make money from your hobby .

Right lets get going .You have two options to begin with, you can either purchase raw silver from your local distributor, or find a Jewelry Manufacture that will supply you with the materials, there is a choice between 925 or 985 in the grade of silver you buy, I like to work in Fine silver 985, but you might find this a tiny difficult to buy. For the purpose of this article we are going to select the second option and purchase our material from a reputable Jewelry Manufacture and we are going to begin with making a easy Sterling silver 925 pendant with a Turquoise cabochon Gemstone.

The majority of tools needed can be bought form a good hardware store and some of the more hard to find items you will be healthy to get from either a Silver Jewelry Manufacture or Supplier.

Your heat source can be either a gas bottle with extension hose and flame adjusting nozzle or as we use in our workshop a petrol bellows and hose set with adjustable nozzle, its important witch ever set you purchase that you can regulate the flame and heat .Next comes the hand tools you will need a small brass hammer, tweezers about 7inches long, small tin snips, brass block 4inches by 4inches and 1inch thick ,rags,2part epoxy, battery acid, fine grade file , a flexible shaft grinder and a ceramic base to heat your silver on ,here is a handy tip a home brick and unglazed roof tile work just great. That should be enough for you to get started.

Step1 is to cut a strip of silver slightly wider then the thickness of the turquoise and long enough to wrap around the diameter of the gemstone, and carefully cut it so as the 2 ends meet tightly around the gemstone.

Step2, take your solder and place a small amount of flux on the two joins, heat the silver strip till red, apply the solder carefully, and it’s joined. If you haven’t done any soldering before try a few practice runs first, you will be healthy to use that silver later on.

Step3, take your sterling silver band and place it on a flat piece of silver plate, check that the turquoise still fits, then as in step 2 apply flux and solder the band to the plate.

Step4, remove the excess silver with your tin snips and sand off any rough edges.

Step5,decide on a shape for your bail and cut it out of silver accordingly, bend into shape .now solder that to the pendant ,and while hot dip the whole pendant into a small blow of acid ,rinse in a blow of clear water and dry.

Step6, Place your turquoise into you silver and carefully trim away any surplus silver. Once your happy with the fit you can sand the silver again with fine grade emery paper, give a small amount of epoxy to the inside of the pendant and insert the turquoise stone .Now take a spoon and using the back work it around the pendant to give a snug fit with the silver and grant to dry.

Step7, Using your flexi grinder insert a polishing cloth disc, add some silver polish and buff the silver to the required finish.

The principles above are applied to all silver work; no it’s up to the imagination of the jewelry designer and skillfulness of the jeweler.

My wife and I have been manufacturing silver jewelry for over 10yrs ,we have successfully helped hundreds of wholesalers and retailers reach there market goals through our custom making jewelry services ,with our monogrammed jewelry prefabricated from fine silver985 % if you would like to contact us go to http://www.silver925-wholesale.com

Making The Best of Your Online Modeling Portfolio

As someone who owned and operated a talent agency, I visited lots of websites to look at profiles of potential talent who want to join our books. Sometimes, when visiting these sites, I noticed a profile that makes me state to myself “Wow, I want this mortal on my books”.

More often than not however, I saw sites that prefabricated me groan in despair and I ask myself “How do this mortal anticipate to find work with a profile like this?”

The aim of this article is to help you to make agents and talent users to have the first reaction and not the second.

Choosing A Name

The first thing you are often asked is to select a individual name, display name, etc. This should be very easily classifiable with you and should grant the talent individual to find you easily. The reason for this is that a talent individual will often look for someone specifically and if it’s you they’re looking for but can’t find then they will give up.

Don’t forget, we are all busy people and haven’t got time to search through hundreds or thousands of models to find you. There are plenty of other models out there so if you can’t be found then someone else can.

Your profile study therefore should be quite simple. Let’s state you’re an amazingly good looking guy called Paul Williams (that’s me by the way and I am amazingly good looking when you’re drunk!) then you should select a individual study that reflects your name. “paulwilliams” would be a good one but this with a digit or two at the end will do because the talent individual should be healthy to find you from using part of the individual name.

For the love of whatever God you believe in, please refrain using absolutely stupid obloquy like “littletinkerbelle” or “blondegoddess” – nobody will ever find you if they are specifically looking for you.

You should also refrain doing things like putting “x” or “xxx” before and after your name. “xxxpaulxxx” is a absolutely useless study even though it might demonstrate that you are outgoing, lovable, kissed-up or whatever, it doesn’t help to find you.

Don’t be depressing

I have seen a great many profiles that have some very strange names. If you really must have a stupid study that is entirely irrelevant to you then don’t make it depressing. Things like “suicidegirl”, “massmurderer” or “slasherjane” – all imitation obloquy that I have just prefabricated up but similar to ones that I have seen – will immediately create a negative image of you in the talent user’s mind.

Don’t forget that the talent individual is doing a job, he doesn’t want to get depressed while he’s working. I would state that if you want to do something one-of-a-kind with your user-name then try something “paul-smiler” or “paul-happy-chappy”. Who would you like to work with – “suicidegirl” or “paul-smiler”?

Your Main Photograph

Your main photograph is probably the first thing that the talent individual is going to see. This should, where possible, be a professional photograph and either a very clear head shot if you have very striking facial features or a full frontal (not nude!) if your body is ideal feature.

If you’re not sure, then go for the full frontal as long as it is a professional photograph. We’ll take a look at your other photographs later on.

The Type Of Work You Do

Most talent websites will list the types of work that you are prepared to do. Whilst I would state “never state never”, don’t indicate that you are willing to do certain types of work if you patently are not willing to do it. For example, if you are not willing to do topless work then don’t state that you are just to get you noticed.

This will just seriously annoy talent users who want you to do this type of work and you will develop a reputation of being a time waster. Lots of talent users know apiece other and your reputation will swiftly get about, especially if you are considered a time waster.

Having stated that, if you are serious about becoming a model then it is well worth asking yourself why you won’t do certain types of work. Ask yourself if your resistance is valid – is it because it goes against your religious beliefs (fair enough) or because you might be humiliated (stupid reason). This is a individualized and moral thing that I’m not going to get into here but I’m just saying it is worth asking yourself “why would I be willing to turn down a job and money?”

Your Other Portfolio Photographs

Your photographs are your shop window display of your abilities and looks – they are what is going to sell you. So they need to be of good calibre so preferably professional but if not, we’ll show you how to get around that in a moment.

The main thing here is to show what you can do. Here it is important to show photos of apiece type of work that you are willing to do. If you state you want to do hand modeling (yes there is such a thing!) then have a close-up picture of your hand, suitably adorned with your ideal costume jewelery. Equally, if you state you want to do nude, then include a nude photograph of yourself.

The difficult bit here is if you state “Catwalk” or “Runway” and you haven’t got any experience of it. How do we get around that? Simply get a friend with a good digital camera to take a picture of you in your ideal dress or suit and pose in front of a white wall. It’s not the same but it will give the talent individual a feel for what your ability.

Oh yeah – if you haven’t got a professional photograph for the type of work – again, get a friend with a good digital camera to take a picture of you against a white wall. Import this into any photo-editing software and you can improve the calibre to almost professional. Bit of a cheat, but it will nonetheless show off your capabilities.

What You State About Yourself

“I want to be a famous model” or “My study is Sophie and I am from winchester and I want to be a model because everyone states I should be I am 17 years old almost 18…” – you get the idea. These are stupid profiles that are an immediate turn off for the talent user. Also, repeating any information that is already displayed such as your height, bra size, types of work you will/won’t do, is an equal turn off.

Your tiny individualized statement should be just a tiny bit of tantalizing information about you that can’t be found anywhere else on your profile. Be concise. Use full stops. Occasionally, you can even use a comma.

So for our erstwhile hero, paulwilliams, the extremely good-looking chap, his individualized statement could read:-

“I am an experienced model having worked in this industry for the past ten years. I am a lifelong Tottenham Hotspur fan and go to watch them whenever I can. I have a two year old daughter, Amber, that I love to pieces and I sincerely hope to make her chesty of me when she is older”.

You see, before this bit you didn’t know that our heroic model liked football or had a daughter and you wouldn’t find this anywhere in his profile.

However, don’t be negative or aggressive in your individualized statement. Things like “I don’t do nude so don’t bother to ask” just makes you sound like an aggressive mortal whilst “I won’t do shoots with male photographers” makes you sound negative.

This might sound strange, but in your individualized statement don’t state what you want out of your modeling career or what your experience is. Statements like “I want to be famous” are just annoying and “I have never modeled before” is likely to disqualify for any job in the mind of the talent user, whether he intends this or not. If in doubt, it’s ideal not to state anything about modeling just about yourself and your other interests.

Don’t Make Yourself Look Stupid

And finally, please try to give the impression that you are not stupid or badly educated. Type your individualized statement in a word-processor first and check the spelling and grammar. “I wud like to bee a model becuz I have got wot it takes” will immediately mark in the mind of the talent individual as illiterate.

Whilst good writing skills are not a stipulation of modeling, ensuring that your profile is well written shows commitment to your aim of becoming a model and recommends to the talent individual that you pay attention to what you are doing!

Some Sites Where You Can Get Exposure

I sold my talent bureau a while ago but I did pick up some information as to where models can get free exposure. Some of the sites do have paid options but you don’t need to sign up for the paid option to get exposure.  The sites are:-

Purestorm, Model Mayhem, The Model Channel, Total Talent

Simply click on the site study to go to the site that interests you.

Best of luck with your career.

Making a List For Christmas Shopping

Making a list for Christmas shopping is something that all shoppers should think about doing during the holiday season. You can create of list of everyone you plan to shop for, gift ideas and the gifts you buy, and the budget and amount spent on apiece person. Making list such as these will help you to remain organized as you Christmas shop. When making a list for Christmas shopping, the first list you should make is everyone you plan to go Christmas shopping for. This list will help you to remember how many people you are shopping for and who. Knowing how many people you are shopping for will help you to set your budget for apiece person. For example, if you are shopping for six people this year, then you might decide to set your budget for ten to twenty dollars per person. How much you can spend per mortal will also depend on how much you can spend in total, but knowing how many people you are shopping for will also be a huge help. A list of who to shop for will also help you to keep in mind who you are shopping for, so you do not forget anyone.

Once you make your list of who you are shopping for and how much you are spending on apiece person, then you can begin gathering together a list of gift ideas per person. If you know what their hobbies, interests, and favorites are, then this will be a huge help when coming up with gift ideas. You can include general ideas (such as animals, football, and baking), or list specific items to buy. When you actually begin your shopping, you can pull out your list and know where to start. This will save you the time of trying to figure out what to purchase everyone while in the store. Of course you might change your mind on an intent or gift later, but atleast you will have a list to help you get started.

When making a list for Christmas shopping, you should be sure to include the items you have actually purchased. This way you will remember what you have purchased and will not run the risk of buying the same item for someone twice. You will also be healthy to keep track of how much money you have spent on apiece person, so that you do not go over the budget you have set. Making a list of all the items you have purchased will also come in handy when it is time to wrap your presents. You do not want to forget which presents goes to who, so you can use the list to help you remember who gets what.

You should always remember to update your list whenever you add a mortal or gift. Update your budget as well. If you are spending thirty dollars on someone and you have just purchased a ten dollar gift, then add the gift to the list and change the budget from thirty to twenty.

So as you can see, making a list for Christmas shopping will be a huge help during the holiday season. Between the shopping, decorating, and wrapping, and still living your normal life of a family, work, or school, any extra help will be good. You can stay organized, keep track of what you have bought, and manage your money during the holiday season. All you need to do is make your lists and check it twice! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Fashion – Making Money as a Fashion Designer

Do you have a love for fashion? If that love includes designing your own clothes or fashion accessories, like handbags, have you ever thought about making a living as a fashion designer? When it comes to being a fashion designer, many individuals feel that it is a dream of theirs that just isn’t destined to become a reality. While this is sometimes the case, it doesn’t always have to be. With the right willpower and the need to succeed, you can easily make money as a fashion designer.

When it comes to making money as a fashion designer, many individuals believe that they can only be successful if they see their designs on the runways in New York or Paris. While this would definitely help, you don’t have to be a famous, well-known fashion designer to make money as one. Did you know that you can make money as a fashion designer making your own clothes right from your own living room or home office? You can and if you would like to know more on how you can go about doing so, you will want to read on.

As you likely already know, many fashion designers begin out with easy drawings on paper. Many have the dream of turning their drawings into real pieces of clothing or fashion accessories; therefore, many do so. What is nice about making a living as a fashion designer is that you have a number of different options. For instance, if you were just starting out small, to see how your designs would sell, you can not only be the designer, but the maker as well. If you would like to hire assistance, either right away or after your business took off, you could do as well.

If you are interested in starting your own fashion design business, you will want to think about having your own online website. In fact, many fashion designers sell their products exclusively on their own online websites, not in some huge fancy fashion store. Of course, if your fashions take off, you could later select to do so if you want. If you also want to sell your own fashions locally, you might want to think about renting some business space.

If you carefully select your space, you can't only have a income floor, but you might also be healthy to have a warehouse where you can make and store your fashions. This saint if you are interested in running both an online fashion store and a storefront one.

If you have been interested in being a fashion designer for a while now, there is a good chance that already have some of the many supplies needed. For instance, you probably already have a massive selection of drawing materials, a sewing machine, and likely even a collection of fabrics.
